Band of the Strong
Non-Discrimination and Equal Access Policy
Policy Statement
Band of the Strong is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone who participates in or supports our work. Consistent with our mission, “To walk with grieving people to help them find purpose and peace,” we believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity and have equitable access to our programs and opportunities.
Band of the Strong does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, religion or creed, sex, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, genetic information, marital or familial status, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
This policy applies to all aspects of the organization’s operations, including:
Participation in programs, activities, and events;
Access to services and organizational resources;
Recruitment and treatment of employees and volunteers;
Selection and service of board members and contractors; and
Relationships with participants, families, partners, donors, and community members.
Equal Access and Accommodation
Band of the Strong will make reasonable efforts to ensure that its programs and activities are accessible. Reasonable accommodations will be provided when required by applicable law and when they can be made without fundamentally altering the program or compromising participant safety.
Band of the Strong may establish mission-related eligibility requirements, such as programs intended for particular age groups or for people affected by grief, illness, or loss. These requirements will be clearly communicated, consistently applied, and used only when relevant to the purpose and design of the program.
Harassment and Retaliation
Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or exclusion based on a protected characteristic is not permitted. Band of the Strong also prohibits retaliation against anyone who raises a concern, submits a complaint, assists another person in reporting a concern, or participates in a review of alleged discrimination.
